My looks have been very minimal this summer. Not totally intentional, but as I'm getting older I have noticed that I am perfectly fine with putting 2-3 simple pieces together and calling it one. I barely accessorize these days. Tuh, what is really good? When I'm not styling at my job, where I always "pop out" , my go to looks have been either minimal, athleisure inspired, or business casual (emphasis on the casual).
Sunday's look came about due to the fact that I was in one of my minimal business casual moods. It was sunny, yet mild, about mid 70s, and I was trying to be a little jazzy. I was debating about going to church in my Sunday's best, but after going back and forth multiple times about an outfit, I decided to just throw something on. I still wanted to be cute and chic, but I wanted it to require the least amount of effort as possible. Sometimes simple is best.
I have to admit I have been disappointed lately with Chicago's summer weather. I'm a summer baby and I have to have sun, heat and humidity in order for it to really feel like summer. I have to feel motivated to wear that sundress or crop top. A smart fashionista(o) takes the weather into account when choosing all of his/her outfits. I feel like I've barely touched most of my summer outfits. The fact that my summer style has been primarily based off of the looks I mentioned before has a lot to do with the fact that it has been either rainy, low to mid 70s for the past few weeks, or it has to be functional for work.
I won't put all the blame on the weather since I have embraced the fact that my style is indeed changing. I've been shifting from my regular trends and scaling back a lot. I feel like after a certain amount of time in your twenties your wardrobe should reflect your lifestyle and age. I can't wear bralettes at the club for the rest of my life. Although if I really wanted to I could probably do it FOREVA *Cardi B voice.
Find your light.
xoxo,
Shan
